We have just finished testing our new HP ENVY 17 and we must admit it exceeded our expectations. When we first opened the box, we didn’t know what to think. We found a very stylish and elegant laptop that was rather large. We immediately suspected it packs a lot of power, but we are here to test not presume. So this is what we started doing. We finished our tests 2 hours ago and we are still very excited. Not only did it behave very well in all our tests, but it also managed to exceed our expectations. Here are our opinions and rating for the HP ENVY 17.

We started, as we always do, by testing the core of the laptop, the central processing unit. We expected good power, but very thrilled by HP ENVY 17’s Intel Core i5 460 M Dual Core processor. Its speed of 2.53 GHz and large, 3 MB L3 cache make it very agile and versatile. If you use its Turbo Boost, you can bring it to no less than 2.8 GHz. This is what we call power! As expected, it behaved extremely well in our tests, being able to pass even our most resource intensive ones without ever giving us any trouble. We are very happy with the CPU, so we rate it 10 out of 10.

Next, we were surprised to find a very potent graphics processing unit (GPU) inside the stylish HP ENVY 17. An ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 graphics card, working with no less than 1 GB or video RAM (also known as VRAM), provides all the power needed to run the latest games. hp ryzen 3 5300u Its HDMI capability adds to its versatility. We are very happy with the video card so we give it the well deserved 10 points here. It was able to output clear and crisp graphics on the amazing 17.3 inch HD LED display, benefitting from the innovative BrightView technology, at a maximum resolution of 1600 x 900.

HP ENVY 17’s 6 GB or DDR3 random access memory (RAM) are great and were able to pass our tests without any problems. Users can always upgrade to the maximum 8 GB if they need even more power. The 500 GB hard disk drive, spinning at 7200 rotations per minute impressed us with its size and speed. We were able to store all our media files, documents, and games and still have enough space to go around. The HP ENVY 17 receives 10 out of 10 points for its RAM and HDD.
